Tariff Electricity Meters

The MID Directive is an EU directive for the certification of certain types of measuring instrument. For electricity meters annexe MI-003 supersedes all national metering approvals (Ofgem in the UK).

Since October 2006 all electricity meters used for billing purposes must either be MID certified or Ofgem approved. There is a grace period during which Ofgem meters are allowed, but soon these will all be superseded by designs with MID certification.

Single Phase Meters

Elster A100C

This is another very compact cost-effective single phase kWh tariff meter with a pulse output.

It is a direct-connected meter rated at 65 Amps Imax.

	Carlo Gavazzi EM24 Panel Mount Exclusive to SHM, the EM24 DIN-rail meter is available with a 96x96 Panel Mount kit that for the first time allows meters used for billing purposes to be neatly mounted in a panel. It is no longer necessary to use surface-mounted "electricity company" style meters for tenant billing. The EM24 is a simple 3-phase Energy Analyser and kWh & kVARh meter for 5A CT connection, with dual pulse output. Class B (equivalent to the old Class 1). 	Iskra MT171 This is a simple cost-effective 3 phase kWh tariff meter with a pulse output. It is available as a direct-connected meter rated at 120 Amps per phase, or a 5 Amp CT-operated meter. Click here to view brochure (191k).
	Kamstrup 351 Combi This is a simple cost-effective 3 phase kWh tariff meter. It is a CT-operated meter for use with 5 Amp CTs, and can be programmed for the appropriate CT ratio. Click here to view brochure (71k).

Code 5 Meters

Elster A1700

This is a full-function Code 5 meter for industrial tariff use.

It has a comprehensive programmable tariff structure, a 2-line multilingual display, instantaneous measured values, 450 days of load profile storage and a battery-backed clock/calendar.

It is a CT-operated meter for use with 5 Amp CTs, and can also be specified for CT/VT operation.
